Manny Pacquiao still eyeing bout with Mayweather – Boxing news
Manny Pacquiao has recently said that he is hoping for a bout against Mayweather sometime in November.
After Mayweather and Pacquiao decided to brawl with other fighters, Timothy Bradley and Miguel Cotto respectively, fans have shown their disappointment widely.
Manny in a recent interview said he feels pressurised by his family to fight and defeat Mayweather. Moreover, he went on saying that his 11-year-old son has urged him to fight Mayweather before quitting the sport. While many fans thought Manny is not interested
in fighting Mayweather, a ray of hope appeared from nowhere when Manny said that he is looking forward to fight Mayweather in November.
His exact words were, “I'm hoping for a November fight (against Mayweather).”
Manny is scheduled to take on the unbeaten fighter Timothy Bradley on June 9. Most analysts are of the view that this is an easy fight for Manny, but Pacquiao thinks differently.
According to Manny, “I consider this fight one of my toughest fights. Timothy Bradley is undefeated, he's strong, he can punch.”
When Bob Arum, promoter of both the fighters, was asked about the contest, he said, “Does Manny have an advantage over Bradley? I would say, 'Yeah, he's more of a power puncher.' But he's giving up a lot of youth there and maybe if Bradley gets him into
the later rounds, the advantage turns.”
However, Bob Arum stayed quiet when he was asked about a possible bout between Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao. All Arum said was, “If I said there is hope, I'd be lying. Whenever we come close, he throws a curveball. Right now, at this point in time, the
fight is impossible.”
Fans of both the sides have been waiting for the bout since last year, when it was first announced by both the camps that things are being considered. For now, Mayweather will fight Miguel Cotto on May 5, whereas Pacquiao will fight Timothy Bradley on June
9.
After his fight, Mayweather will serve his 90 days jail sentence. If, after his return, there are any negotiations between both the camps, the super-bout between Pacquiao and Mayweather will possibly happen.
