Manny Pacquiao talks about his last fight against Juan Manuel Marquez – Boxing News
Filipino fight sensation Manny Pacquiao is looking forward to his fourth fight against Mexican ring legend Juan Manuel Marquez. Although Pacquiao believes he has outboxed Marquez thrice, he still feels there is a need to stop him in the ring to establish
his dominance.
Pacquiao has faced Marquez thrice before, winning two fights while the first one went into a tie. Marquez believes all three times he won but he was not declared the winner. On the other hand, Pacquiao believes he has done enough to show the world that he
is better than Marquez.
“From the first day or training Freddie and I thought we would beat Márquez. I was bigger than he and I had defeated better, stronger opponents since our last fight,” said Pacquiao.
Although Pacquiao admitted he did underestimate Marquez, he still insisted that he overpowered the Mexican.
“What really surprised me was he seemed to anticipate every move I made in the first rounds of the fight. It was frustrating because he was dictating the pace and style in many of those early rounds,” he added.
“I was not surprised I won the decision. I thought I won the fight,” he added.
According to Pacquiao, he was satisfied that he defeated Marquez enough times for not facing him. Unfortunately, fans and analysts did not believe that Pacquiao outboxed Marquez. According to most of them, Marquez was the winner but Pacquiao won through
split decision.
For now, Pacquiao is scheduled to face Marquez on December 8 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The Filipino is hoping that this would be the last time he would face Marquez in the ring.
Moreover, Pacquiao has pressed the fact in the past that he is looking forward to knockout Marquez instead of winning another decision. However, compared to the former WBO titlist’s recent performances, knocking out Marquez seems to be a tough go. Still,
Pacquiao and his coach Freddie Roach are hopeful that this fight would end the rivalry once and for all.
A win would mean Pacquiao walks towards a super-fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr.
