Manny Pacquiao thanks fans for watching the show – Boxing News
Filipino fight king Manny Pacquiao thanked boxing fans for watching the fight. According to Pacquiao, he has no excuses for the knockout loss he suffered on December 8 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas at the hands of Juan Manuel Marquez.
“First and foremost I would like to thank God for keeping Juan Manuel Márquez and me safe during our fight on Saturday night,” said Pacquiao after the fight.
“I want to congratulate Juan Manuel. I have no excuses. It was a good fight and he deserved the victory. I think boxing fans who watched us were winners too. To all my fans, I would like to thank you for your prayers and assure you that I am fine. I am looking
forward to a nice rest and then I will be back to fight. On behalf of Jinkee and our family we would like to wish everyone a joyous Christmas and a happy and healthy new year,” he added.
Pacquiao was knocked out brutally by Juan Manuel Marquez in the sixth round. The fight ended with the Filipino on the canvas, motionless for a couple of seconds. Jinkee, his wife, rushed with tears towards to ring, hoping that no damage was caused to Pacquiao.
“Manny was given a CT scan and the results were negative,” said Pacquiao’s adviser Michael Koncz when the Filipino was taken to the University Medical Center.
Although Pacquiao was knocked out, the Filipino did fulfil his promise of either knocking out Marquez or being knocked. Pacquiao had all the advantage throughout the fight, and he could have stood back to win on points. However, as a true warrior would always
do, the Filipino went into Marquez, hoping to destroy his nemesis and end the saga once and for all.
Unfortunately, it was not Pacquiao’s night and he suffered a blow that he has not taken in ages. A huge right to the front face made Pacquiao lose his senses for a while. He laid face flat on the mat while Marquez celebrated his victory. For Marquez, it
was a day of celebration as he had won his career’s first fight against Pacquiao.
