Manny Pacquiao trying to get his aggression back – Boxing News
Filipino fight sensation Manny Pacquiao has finally realised that he needs to get his aggression back. The Filipino congressional representative is currently in Los Angeles, training at the Wild Card Gym with Freddie Roach. During a recent interview, the
former WBO welterweight titlist admitted the fact that he is no longer the raging superstar who once ran after his opponents.
According to Pacquiao, it is time for him to get back into his earlier fighting years, when he was fast enough to catch his opponents in their corners with ease.
“My opponents were running away from me,” said Pacquiao when asked about his recent failed knockout attempts against fighters like Timothy Bradley and Juan Manuel Marquez. “After three rounds, maybe five rounds, they were running, running, running. They
didn't want to fight toe-to-toe with me. A fight like that is not impressive compared to the others.”
Pacquiao is currently rated as the top pound for pound boxer in the world, alongside nemesis Floyd Mayweather Jr., who currently holds the WBC welterweight title. Despite Pacquiao’s recent loss to Timothy Bradley, his ratings went unchanged, as most analysts
believed the split decision loss of the Filipino was highly controversial.
“I need to be more aggressive. That's what I'm focusing on now, more motivation [to get a knockout] and more aggressiveness. That's the most important thing I had before, when I was 25 or 26 years old. I went after my opponents very aggressively and I'm
trying to get that back now,” added the Filipino, who believes it is time for him to get back in his aggressive zone before he loses yet another fight.
Pacquiao is scheduled to face Marquez for a fourth time on December 8 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Both fighters have locked horns thrice before. Pacquiao defeated Marquez with unanimous decision and majority decision in the later two fights while the
first one went into a tie.
Now, the Filipino knows his fans are expecting a solid win against Marquez to end the rivalry once and for all. In other words, Pacquiao knows it is time for a knockout.
