  1. pacquiao can't take mayweather...

he barely win to marquez who is a good counter puncher...

and mayweather is a great counter puncher and defensive oriented...

  2. it would be a wise decision to move up in weight. as the guy above said, manny is having a hard time already squeezing himself in the 130 lbs division. his body can no longer cope with being reduced to that weight.

the only reason that marquez always prove to be a tough customer to pacquiao is his boxing style. counter-punchers always have a slight advantage to sluggers, more so when you have a reach advantage, like the 5 inch advantage of marquez.

what i think of the david diaz- pacquiao fight?.. it qould be similar to the 1st meeting of pacquaio to barrera. it was his first fight in the new weight class and although it took him 11 rounds, he prevailed. i dont really think that david diaz will give that much of a difficulty, especially with his performance in the undercard of last sunday's fight.

i dont think that pacquaio will fight marquez anymore. marquez can run his mouth forever, but in the business-minded boxing these days, a non-charismatic non-money generating fighter like marquez cannot demand a rematch like a big-money fighter like mayweather or pacquiao can.

speaking of mayweather, it would be interesting if manny can max out his fighting weight at the welterweight division and fight mayweather jr or dela hoya. even if manny does, it would be biting off more than he can chew. i mean, manny pacquaio started his career at a mere 106 lbs, although he was known as well-known as a fighter at the 122 lb division. i do think the welterweight division is too much, especially when you have to face the best complete fighter in the world.

  3. Yeah, it's been mentioned that Pacquiao will face Diaz on June 28th. I think it'll be interesting only because it'll be Pacquiao's first fight at 135. There will be many questions to wonder about Pacquiao, like "Can he display the power at 135?"and "Can he handle attacks from those naturally in the lightweight division?", just to give a few. I think David Diaz will be a test that Pacquiao will test, but it'll be interesting to see how well he scores on the test.

Mayweather and Pacquiao would be exciting on paper, but I think if they actually met in the ring, it would be a one-sided. I think it would look something like Vernon Forrest over Shane Mosley, with Mayweather playing the role of Forrest and Pacquiao playing as Mosley.

  4. Yes, Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum has stated that he will match Manny with David Diaz on June 28 for Diaz's lightweight belt.  I don't see Diaz really posing a threat against Pacquiao; Diaz barely beat a past his prime Erik Morales while Pacquiao knocked Morales out twice in decisive fashion.  It will be interesting to see how Manny does and how impressive he looks in his first fight at lightweight.

As for the Mayweather fight- a year ago, this was seen as a fight that would never happen, but now, it realistically could happen.  Manny came in to his fight with Marquez at 143 pounds, which is a welterweight (the division that Mayweather is champ in).  However, I honestly don't see this fight as competitive; Floyd is too skilled for Manny and he would pot-shot him all night long.  It still might happen because there are rumors that Pacquiao may face De La Hoya in Oscar's farewell fight and Oscar is much bigger than Floyd.  And I'm sure the fight would bring in substantial money, and right now, Mayweather is interested in the fights that will bring him the most money.

  5. I don't know why they keep on insisting Diaz and moving up in weight when Pacquiao barely won to Marquez in their return bout. If he's getting trouble winning in the junior lightweights how much more if he moved up class? First and foremost he should face Marquez first to settle the score with Marquez once and for all to prove doubters wrong.

  6. I think it's the right thing to do....I mean moving up to Diaz's weight category. He just can't squeeze himself to 130lbs. anymore. His last fight with Marquez proves that he's not on his element, and the fight resulted to a somewhat questionable split decision that could've gone to Marquez.

Pacquiao has grown too much muscle to squeeze through super featherweight. And his training regimen, which includes dehydrating himself 2 to 3 days prior to weigh in just to be able to make it to 130lbs. is just plain ridiculous.

The right thing to do is play within his body's weight. Now that he seems decided to fight Diaz already, he should grow himself accustomed to fighting @ a heavier weight category, develop his natural speed at that level, and try to bring along his punching power, too.

Not only is it the natural thing to do, it's the most logical, too. That is if he want to keep his hands from shaking long after he retires.

  7. Manny will fight Diaz in sometime this year. I'm not worried about Diaz, Diaz should worry about Manny.

I can't help but comment about Pacquaio vs. JMM 3, this will never happen, the 1st first fight was a draw and the second is won by Manny, so if there will be a rematch it will be boring to see, and if JMM will win, there will be a fourth clash again to decide. And like Bob Arum said, its not financially feasible. End of discussion.

  8. Pacquiao should engage in early serious training. It's all about familiarity with the weight. Pacquiao packs power and if he ascends to 135, he'll bring that power with him. Pacquiao should disposed of Diaz in five good rounds, granting Pacquiao is focused on his training.
