Manny Pacquiao vs. Juan Manuel Marquez – The Bradley Factor! (Part 1) – Boxing Special
In the world of boxing, not every fighter gets fame, titles and money at the same time. Nobody is as lucky as Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao to make it to the top on the Forbes list, hold a huge fan base worldwide and at the same time earn money
that others can only dream of.
Along the way came Timothy Bradley, an unbeaten American fighter who ‘controversially’ defeated the Pac-man on June 9 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The crowd booed at him and fellow fighters called him a ‘coward’ and a lot more. The fight was truly in Pacquiao’s
hands but Bradley was the man to stand against the most explosive fighter in the world for 12 rounds without hitting the canvas even once. Now that is definitely an accomplishment for a fighter like Bradley, who has never faced such fierce fighters before.
Unfortunately, Bradley grabbed the title from Pacquiao but was unable to get the respect of a champion. He was criticised worldwide by fans and fellow fighters. Things could not get worse when Bradley heard that Pacquiao is going for a fourth fight with
Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez, instead of a rematch with him. Bradley was hoping a rematch would give him the chance to prove his mettle against the Pac-man, but it did not really work out for him.
Bradley was so furious with Pacquiao’s decision that he unleashed his fury over the Filipino pride, calling him a ‘chicken’ and a ‘fighter who does not care about his fans’. However, even Bradley knew the Pac-man would not fall his for trash-talks.
Recently, in an interview with The Times, Bradley spoke about how he felt when Pacquiao announced he would fight Marquez and not him.
“I’m straight, I’m good, I’m not tripping. It’s all business, I know that. I would’ve done the same thing if I felt I had won the fight and considered the money situation,” said the current WBO champion.
Bradley was trying to sugar coat it, but he knew that Pacquiao did not fight him again because nobody wanted to see the fight.
