Manny Pacquiao with a rematch clause against Timothy Bradley – Boxing News
It seems like Manny Pacquiao is safeguarding his WBO welterweight title as much as he can. Pacquiao, who is scheduled to fight unbeaten Timothy Bradley on June 9, got a rematch clause added to the contract. This way, if the Pac-man loses to the ‘Desert Storm’,
he will get a rematch. The fight will be a welterweight title fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on June 9.
On the rematch clause, Bob Arum, chief promoter for Top Rank, said, “Bradley is a very good fighter and the only Manny has over him is he is a better puncher (than Bradley).” In other words, Arum clearly stated that Manny Pacquiao could lose to Bradley,
which will definitely not be a good patch on Manny’s career, since he is the on the verge of retirement.
Not only this, even Manny knows that Bradley is probably the toughest opponent he has ever faced or will ever face since most analysts have rated Bradley as 3-1 underdog. This is something neither Manny expected nor Bradley. None of Pacquiao’s opponents
to date have been rated this well.
On Manny’s preparations and his role in the fight, Arum commented, “This is a very difficult fight for Manny. An 8-1 or 7-1 underdog because Manny had killed him (when they fought in 2009)."
Even Manny’s coach Freddie Roach expressed his confusion over Manny’s current state of mind. Pacquiao is supposedly getting more religious day by day according to Roach, which is a matter of great concern. Freddie even said that Manny does not want to hurt
people because God does not want him to which makes everyone around him a bit worried.
Considering the fact that Timothy Bradley is a strong fighter with an unbeaten streak, it becomes imperative for Manny to give his best in the ring. There is no way Manny should take Bradley lightly, and that is what his coach and his promoter think as well.
While Manny is the Filipino pride, Bradley is no less and the latter is known for his power-punches and speed. Manny definitely is among the best but going head to head with a boxer like Timothy can be Manny’s worst nightmare.
