Manny Pacquiao’s fight date once again moved – Boxing News
Neither December 1 nor November 10, this time Manny Pacquiao is scheduled to fight on December 8. Top Rank’s Bob Arum, promoter for Pacquiao, has filed an official request with the Nevada State Athletic Commission to book Manny Pacquiao for December 8.
It should be noted here that Pacquiao is willing to fight before the end of the year. The fight is scheduled for the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and the request has been filed with the executive director Keith Kizer, according to ESPN.com.
“As is the customary procedure for working with the NSAC, we requested the date from them,” said Top Rank vice president Carl Moretti. “The potential matchups are all being discussed with Manny and his team, and we anticipate the process to be completed
in a timely fashion for all involved.”
It should be noted here that Manny Pacquiao’s opponent is still not decided. The Filipino has taken enough time and has created enough suspense but has yet not decided who he wants to fight. Previously, Miguel Cotto of Puerto Rico was in Pacquiao’s list
of possible opponents but no more, as he is scheduled to fight on December 1 against another opponent. Now, Pacquiao is left with unbeaten American fighter and the now WBO welterweight titlist Timothy Bradley and Mexican fighter Juan Manuel Marquez.
Pacquiao lost his WBO title on June 9 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas to Timothy Bradley via controversial split decision. The Filipino promised fans he would bring the title home. In this very context, there are chances for the Pac-man to opt for Bradley
once again.
On the other hand, Bob Arum it would be better for Pacquiao to go for Marquez, as the Mexican is more popular than Bradley is and can promise better pay-per-view revenue. If Pacquiao goes for Marquez, it will be the fourth fight between the two. The Filipino
won the second and the third fight, while the first one ended up in a tie.
“I've got nothing right now. Maybe we'll have something (Wednesday). Hopefully, by the end of the week,” said Michael Koncz, Pacquiao’s friend and adviser.
