Manny Pacquiao’s mother promises rematch victory of the Filipino icon – Boxing News
After Manny Pacquiao lost his WBO welterweight title to Timothy Bradley via split decision, his mother promised fans that Pacquiao would bring back the title to the Philippines by winning the rematch. The match that had Manny Pacquiao giving his best shot
to Bradley yet losing, was taken with an uproar by the fans all around the world.
On one end, church leaders want Manny Pacquiao to retire but on the other end, his mother wants him to beat Bradley in the rematch. “I wanted him to retire before, but now I want to see this rematch happen,” Pacquiao’s mother said. She added, “I want to
let all of Manny's fans to know there will be a rematch, and he will get back his belt.”
The Archbishop Oscar Cruz remarked, “We're very happy he has found his way after a spiritual conversion of some kind. But he should quit now and just continue to inspire the people with his other pursuits.”
When asked, the now WBO Welterweight champion Timothy Bradley said he wants to have the rematch to beat Pacquiao in a more decisive manner. He added, “Let's settle this once and for all. There should be a rematch, and Pacquiao will then be more vicious and
knock Bradley out.”
Pacquiao’s mother also called Bradley a ‘dirty fighter’ and now she wants her son to beat him in the rematch once and for all.
Not just Pacquiao’s mother, the entire boxing community and fans all around the world are shocked with the decision. Oscar de la Hoya, former boxer who suffered a knockout defeat by Pacquiao in 2008, commented, “Bradley should have given the belt and announced
victory to Pacquiao right after the decision.” Even according to Oscar, Bradley had lost the fight and he should have been noble enough to make a brave move.
It should be noted here that this was the biggest bout of Bradley’s career. Even then, most analysts believe that the unbeaten American fighter should have stood with what was right to do. A rematch between both the fighters might happen in November this
year but nothing can be said for sure now.
