Question:

Manny Rameriz for Jason Bay??

I love the Red Sox, but was it really the right time to trade Manny Rameriz? Besides, how good is Jason Bay? Thus far, he does have more home runs than Manny, but Manny does have slightly a higher RBI count.

Can someone please tell me who Jason Bay really is or how he is like offensively and defensively? I would like to know who the h**l we're getting for such a high class player like Manny was.

And do YOU think it's a good deal? and do YOU think it will benefit the sox? I really do hope it does.

  1. There's no comparison between Bay and Ramirez. Bay is a very nice player. Manny is arguably the best right handed hitter of his era. They have similar stats this season, but Manny has been far from at his best this year. Manny is one of the very elite offensive players who can by himself destroy an opposing pitching staff and carry a team.

I haven't seen Bay play much at all. He is clearly a productive player. It's not a great trade for the Sox, especially considering the salary they are eating. But Manny wasn't sticking around and was becoming a distraction this year, at least according to the Red Sox. If they hadn't traded him, it seemed likely he would cause havoc this year and then he would leave and the Sox would get zilch.

Remember, real baseball is not fantasy baseball. In 04 the Sox traded Nomar for a player who statistically was not close to Nomar's caliber. But the trade changed their team dynamic and turned the season around. The Sox can still win this year, but it won't be as easy as it would be with a happy, content Manny on the team. But they may be better off than they would have been with an unhappy, disruptive Manny.

  2. yes because rameriz didnt want to play for the sox and he wasnt trying that much either anymore, if they hadnt traded him they would have had to pay him $20 million dollars no not even try to wi, he would have messed up the team chemistry, it was the right move at lest now they have a player that will try his harder

  3. heres his stats

personally i dont think it was a good enough trade but its reasonable

if manny has this i dont give a c**p attiude

then we shouldnt care about him

& if we win a championship i will be laughing my @$$ of!!!

  4. If it was a good trade or not, I don't know. Theo Epstein seems to know what he is doing. For example, Pedro Martinez, Johnny Damon and now Manny. Everyone thought Boston was dumb for letting Johnny Damon get away but it ended up working out for them and the whole Pedro thing, how many games has that guy played since he left Boston?

  5. it will in a couple of years. but not right now

  6. Bay is a better fielder, but he will perform badly now that he is playing for a team where winning matters.!!

  7. Jason Bay is a young, solid outfielder.

He was in a HR Derby a couple years ago but hit only 0 or 1 HR.

It is an Okay deal. It would benefit the Sox after a few more years.

  8. Boston traded manny because he was making the time have a bad publicity and they were pretty much trading him for anybody who knew what a baseball glove was. They were pretty lucky to get Jason Bay at this point of the trade deadline. Boston will still be a good team even without manny.
