Manny Ramirez Trade ?

Let me get your take on the Manny Ramirez deal give me anything lay it all out. Heres My opinion

I live in Boston and im a die hard boston sports fan. Now personally Manny Ramirez was my not my favorite player on the sox, not my favorite player in baseball, he was my favorite athlete in the world. It makes me sad to see a guy whos been part of a tradition for years to leave the way he did. Now i could understand if wanted out after the season but w/ 2 months left and with the team in playoff contention was just idk. They also broke up the best 3, 4 combo in baseball . jason bay cant fill the shoes that manny wore here.

Agreed.  I live in MA as well and think the team has lost a bit with the deal.  However, I think it was time for him to go now while we could still get something in return for him.  More than likely Jason Bay will not be as good but at least we have him for this year and next.

Yeah, it's sad to see him go, but it's not the end of the world.  It could even be the opposite.  Look at when they traded Nomar--they won the world series.  And plus, Manny is getting old.  Also, he is a bad role model for the rest of the team and kids who love the Red Sox.  Of course he was a good player, but imagine how much better he could have been if he actually cared about the team.  I'll miss him, but I will still love the Red Sox.

I agree. I just asked a similar question, not having read yours first. I am really annoyed at the Red Sox ownership. Manny is right-when top players contracts are up for renewal, and the players are over a certain age, the ownership will try to make the player look bad so that the fans will dislike them, and the club can then get rid of them, purportedly for the good of the team. They did it to Nomar, Pedro, and Johnny Damon, and they were doing it to Manny, who saw it coming and acted in what I believe was an appropriate manner, all things considered. In closing, I, as a diehard Manny fan, hope he helps the Dodgers make it to the World Series, and on to victory!
