Question:

Manny Ramirez and the HOF?

There is no doubt that Manny is going to the HOF because of the 500 homeruns and 2 rings...but after the disasterous breakup with the Red Sox is there any chance that he will go in with the Indians or if things work out in LA the Dodgers? He seems to be a stubborn person and he may not want to portray himself in a Boston uniform.

  1. 500 homers no longer guaruntee's a HOF spot like it used to.  And 2 rings means nothing, its one player and its the team that won.  I think he will make it to the hall of fame, and i think that because he is still playing well he will continue playing for many years.  It all depends on how long he sticks around.  He said he wants to retire in LA, and i think if he plays there long enough he will go into the hall of fame with the dodgers.

  2. Its not his decision, thats an often mistake, the Commite chooses what team a player goes with

SO yes, he will go with Boston, unless he has an AMZING time in LA, which would suck for the GIants and the NL West

  3. I expect he'll go in as a Red Sock, but he may choose the Dodgers if they take even one championship home while he's there.

  4. Manny Ramirez told reporters he had dinner in a L.A. restaurant and no one bothered him. I believe him since I know what's Los Angeles like. Now, if he was having dinner in Boston, it would be a different story since Red Sox fans are more judgmental and ... passionate whereas Dodger fans are more laid-back and mellow. He simply wasn't happy with the pressure in Boston and he wasn't happy with his teammates. Who are we to know exactly what was going on inside the clubhouse?

He'll be a shoo-in for the Hall of Fame because he helped brought the Red Sox to the World Series... twice. Yet, Red Sox fans seemed to have forgotten about that. And, it's not the first time the Red Sox gave away a great player. They did that with Babe Ruth. They did it with Wade Bogg. They did it with Johnny Damon. And I'm only stating the tip of the ice berg. All those players will say the same thing about the Red Sox.

  5. He SHOULD go in with the Red Sox since that's the team he had his best years with. Its undoubtedly that he impacted the Red Sox more than any other team. I highly doubt he'll turn around and enter the HOF in a Sox uniform though, unless he and the Sox management come to peace.  About an hour after being traded his agent called saying Manny did not want to be traded anymore though, so he definitely regretted these last 2 weeks a little, but he's loving LA. He will probably go in with a Dodgers uniform if he gets a contract signed next year.

  6. he will go in with the sox

    why?

he spent 7 and a half years there

he won the first WS for the sox in 86 years and was the MVP of the series

he won ANOTHER WS for the sox last season, and played a huge part in that championship (walkoff VS angles...)

he finished top 10 in al mvp voting 5 times while in Boston (3 times in Cleveland)

he was an all star 7 times with the sox (not this year) and only 4 times with Cleveland

he is well known as a member of the red sox, and the ortiz/manny combo is legendary

lastly, as a new yorker (im a mets fan though) I have witnessed firsthand the horror that yankee fans experience when the yankees play the red sox, and manny comes to the plate as the tying or go ahead run in a crucial spot.

its tough to make yankee fans nervous, and manny can change the game with one swing

  7. He had about half the homers with the sox, but his career didn't really take off until he joined the red sox. He has to go in as a red sock! His grudge was with management trading away their superstars, but then again.. it's gotten the sox some nice jewellery so I don't really mind.

I was fortunate enough to take a trip to Baltimore, to see two games. I was lucky enough to witness Manny's 500th in person and get it on camera =)

  8. He would still go in a Red Sock. I mean Wade Boggs went in as one and I think his best relationship was with the Yankees. He also liked the Rays better too.
