He doesn't even care about his job, he shows up late, doesn't play hard some nights, and looks bored. What is his reasoning behind that, seeing he makes this much?

Manny  is doing this because at the end of the year the Red Sox have a team option for 2009. Manny knows if they don't pick up the option for 2009, he can make more money as a free agent this year. I think the Sox organization are tired of him. I don't think he wants to be a Red Sox and a couple a times he has stated how he would like to play for either NY teams.(I'm too lazy to go look for the quotes)Anyways I as a Yankee fan would never want him to be a Yankee because he doesn't hustle and takes the game very lightly. I think he forgets that your getting paid  millions to give your team the best performance everyday.

The Red Sox made this contract back in 2000. Probably when Manny cared about this big contract he was getting. Now hes caught up in being a star. He's a waste of money at this point. I hope we get rid of him

Manny is a very important part of this team and will continue to be.  I don't see a trade happening.

By the way, despite his sometime on the field nonchalance I have heard many times and places that he is one of the first to show up for a game and that he works hard at his craft.  It does fit with the confidence level that he bats with.

  

I guess what I am saying is that us Red Sox fans have learned to tolerate his moments because he was a vital part of a couple of championship teams.   Maybe he'll have a couple of hits today, drive in three and go back-to-back with Papi.  We'll put the rest of that stuff on the back burner then.

I don't see how the Red Sox will be able to trade a 36 year old guy who's production is declining making $20 mil with $20 mil options the next 2 seasons...The Red Sox should part ways with him after this season because he is a big distraction and trade for Matt Holliday during the off season...They have the players to trade for Holliday.
