  1. Red Sox- Got Jason Bay who is putting up almost identical nuimbers to Manny this season and is much younger. I believe he wont make a distraction like Manny would or leave.

Pirates- Got good talent in return which is what they need to rebuild.

dodgers- Manny provides the big bat and power they need to potentially win the division and most likely nothing more. They wont get past the Brewers or Cubs. He is just a rental player and wont be part of their future (getting old).

Overall, I think the Red Sox got a pretty fair deal. Pirates got some young players but not sure those players will make a huge impact. dodgers were just desperate. Winner: Red Sox

  2. red sox. this was mannys last year there anyway before becoming a free agent. better to use manny while you can. bay is also a rising star with a smaller salary.

  3. BOSTON GOT SCREWED

  4. RED SOX POINT OF VIEW:

Hansen and Moss were decent at best, and Hansen is in his 3rd year in the league so he's not a prospect. We needed to get rid of Manny, and we got Bay in return, so I think we're in a better position than we were before because now everyone in our clubhouse will actually have some work ethic and a h**l of a lot of chemistry. Bay should fit in well here because he is a guy who works his *** off for his team and that's just the type of guy we needed instead of Manny. Don't worry about Moss and Hansen, we recently replaced Hansen in the bullpen with Masterson and Moss was our 4th outfielder anyway.

    DODGERS POINT OF VIEW:

We just gave up 2 half decent guys and we got a Hall of Famer. The DBacks did not make any moves, but we did and we got Manny. We have been just 1 game behind them for a really long time, and Manny is definitely the guy we needed to put us over the top for the division. I'm glad the trade was so late because it gave the DBacks NO time to make a move like we did, so we have a huge advantage for the division with 2 months left. Joe Torre should do a great job with Manny in keeping him a hard worker, and Manny should no longer act the way he has these last couple weeks with Boston.

    PIRATES POINT OF VIEW:

We used to have one of the best outfields in the league, but we just gave away Jason Bay, and now we're probably just going to play even worse for the rest of the season. We managed to get 4 young guys who can hopefully develop along with a lot of other players on our team, and in 4 or 5 years we may be the strongest team in the NL Central if everything goes right. I'm sad we lost Bay but we need to star planning ahead because keeping Bay clearly wasn't going to win us anything any time soon.

  5. i think pitt ..they got a future closer a solid OF and a possible great 3B..

  6. La got the best part Boston got the worst part

Pittsburgh really cant win with these players

  7. the pirates will win the nl central in the next 5 years

  8. It showed that the Pirates finally have a GM with the guts to give up possibly their best player for good players who could get a lot better. The Bucs weren't going anywhere this year, so they did what they could to make their 2009 and 2010 team better. I think in the long run, the Pirates make out best. The Dodgers, on the other hand, needed the power and playoff presence that Manny brings and in the NL West, he may be just the edge that puts the Dodgers in the playoffs. Boston gets Bay, a very good everyday ballplayer who not only hits for power, average, has decent speed and is a good defender AND is signed through 2009.
