Former Indian all-rounder, Manoj Prabhakar has been axed from his role as the head coach of Delhi after he criticized the players for not giving 100 percent for the team.
With the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, beginning in just two days, the news comes as a surprise; however, Delhi’s chief selector feels that due to the ongoing rift between Prabahkar and the players, it was best for either party
to go their own ways before the start of the tournament.
"He made comments against players and selectors and it hasn't gone down well with them. It has created a rift in the team," said Delhi's chief selector http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Chetandra-Pratap-Singh-Chauhan-c50584.
The former 48-year-old all-rounder was appointed the head-coach last year after first serving as a bowling coach. He wanted to transform the team into real title contenders, however, felt that he did not have the full backing of many of the senior players.
He publically criticized a few, the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/S-Dhawan-c2392 and Unmukt Chand, feeling that they need to step up to the mark in order for the team to challenge for bigger accolades.
With the team underperforming last year, he consequently labelled the blame on the selectors, which he felt were not capable to implement his ideas.
“Last year when I joined as coach, I thought I could build a new team with fresh faces. This season I tried to bring in new ideas and new thinking but most of them have been rejected," said Prabhakar.
The tournament was first played way back in 1934-35 season, and the dominant power-house had been the Bombay (now http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820) side. Delhi won their first title in the 1978-79,with the last coming in 2007-08, during which Prabhakar was the bowling consultant.
