*YES. They ARE illegal. Don't listen to that guy. HOWEVER, illegal never stopped me before. ;) A lot of people still use them anyway... you know... rebels like you and I. ;)

If you are caught selling one ANYWHERE in the States, you will be fined. If you are caught using one on a lake where they are banned, you will be fined. If you are caught using one in a state where they are banned, you will be fined. My cousin uses his in Quebec. I'm pretty sure they're illegal there too, but those Quebecois are not as anal-retentive as the rest of us... so they often let it slide.
