Argentina 111 – Venezuela 93
The hosts of the tournament, Argentina continued their unbeaten run as they defeated Venezuela 111-93. This was Argentina’s sixth straight win that enabled them to successfully qualify for the semis in the 2011 FIBA Americas Championship.
National Basketball Association star Manu Ginobili, whom every one praised for his play in the previous game, proved his talent once again.
Manu Ginobili
Ginobili led Argentina from the front with a game-high 26 points, two rebounds, three assists and three steals. Ginobili spent 26 minutes on the court, during which he shot six three-pointers out of his eight attempts and also
hit four two-pointers.
Pablo Prigioni
Pablo Prigioni supported has been a revelation in this tournament. On the night, the Argentinean forward scored 20 points, dished out a game-high six assists and made steal two. Pablo was outstanding from beyond the arc, hitting
six of his three-pointers out of seven attempts.
Hector Romero
Hector Romero was the major contributor for Venezuela. He scored 21 points together with four rebounds for his team. Romero stayed on the court for 23 minutes, in which he made seven of 11 from the field and remained 100 percent
(seven of seven) from the charity stripe.
Greivis Vasquez
Greivis Vasquez distributed a game high 10 dimes and also grasped five rebounds for Venezuela, which also got 11 points from him.
Brazil 90 – Panama 65
Brazil thrashed Panama 90-65 to gain their second victory of the second round in 2011 FIBA Americas Championship. Brazil sailed to the victory without facing any trouble from Panama and dominated throughout the game.
Guilherme Giovannoni
Guilherme Giovannoni spearheaded the Brazilian squad with his 17-point effort. He also clutched two rebounds, provided three assists and made one steal in his 18 minutes on court. Guilherme was 100 percent in his field goal and
three-point shooting, whereas from the free throw line, he shot 75 percent.
Caio Aparecido Silveira Torres
Caio Aparecido Silveira Torres was the second best scorer of the Brazilian team. Caio chipped in with 11 points and a team high 6 rebounds. He also handed out two assists and shot 100 percent both from the field and three-point
range.
Danilo Pinnock
Danilo Pinnock scored most points by any player in this game (20 points), but still his effort went in vain as he couldn’t save Panama from another defeat. Besides his scoring, Pinnock also grabbed four rebounds, made two steals
and dished out one assist. His two point shooting was not up to the mark, but he compensated it with his 67 percent shooting from behind the arc and was 100 percent from the paint.
Jose Ferron
Jose Ferron tallied 16 points together with four rebounds for his team.
