Manu Ginobili will not be playing for Virtus Bologna as Kobe Bryant’s replacement- NBA Update
Recently, some reports have come out in the media about the San Antonio Spurs’ guard Manu Ginobili and his potential playing chances in Italian basketball club, Virtus Bologna. According to these reports, the Bologna management
will seriously pursue Ginobili if Kobe Bryant turned down its offer.
However, Ginobili’s agent Herb Rudoy has rejected all those speculations and denied Manu Ginobili’s linkage with Virtus Bologna. On Tuesday, when several reporters tried to ask him about Ginobili’s potential playing chances in
Italy as Kobe Bryant’s replacement, he simply replied them with a text message, “Not true!”
The Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant is still not sure over a lucrative deal that Virtus Bologna has offered him last month. The Italian club has offered him an astounding $3million for about 10 games but Kobe is still playing
his cards with great care. He seems not in hurry for making any overseas deal and looking optimistic about the ongoing labour talks between the NBA owners and the players union. On Tuesday in New York City, he was also present at the labour talks and described
his potential playing chances in Italian basketball league, “up in the air”.
Kobe Bryant further said, “I don’t think there’s anything stopping it or pushing on it, I think it’s its own separate structure. The developments that it has to what’s going on here is that I have time to be able to play overseas.
In terms of what’s holding up the deal is the same as any other deal.”
Though, Kobe Bryant is still resisting making any deal to play overseas during the lockout but there are still many professional players who have already made deals with several international basketball clubs. The lockout in the
league is the main reason why these players are planning to go abroad in this summer.
Apart from many other disadvantages, this lockout is provoking many players to play overseas during this ongoing work stoppage in the league. The National Basketball Association (NBA) has now entered in its fourth straight month
since it was locked on July 1st and still no progress has been made to resolve the issue between NBA owners and the Players Association. One the other hand, no one knows how long this lockout will prevail in the league.
The players and the NBA owners are still inflexible over their stance for new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and that is causing every individual who is directly or indirectly involved with the NBA. The owners have suggested
some new clauses for the CBA which are not acceptable to the players association.
