  1. Low gear.

  2. leave in reverse the lowest gear.

  3. 1st in all mine (it is the lowest ratio for me).

Only in the semis do I leave in neutral. This way I don't have to climb in and place in neutral to start them (clutch not required to be pushed in to start).

  4. I always leave mine in reverse, with the parking brake on.

  5. leave it in gear, less likely to roll away. check your driver's manual and driver's license manual.

i know, you will have to read....

  6. If I may, I am going to attempt to translate your question into English so one does not have to be semi-literate to understand it.

Manual car drivers, do you leave your car in neutral or in gear when you park? I am just curious and wonder if it's simply personal preference or if there's actually a correct way?

Do you leave your manual car in neutral or in a gear when you park it?

There, that is much better, and Manuel will appreciate being left out of it.

My sister kept insisting I was wrong about the need to leave her car in first or reverse gear when she had it parked. She typically would leave it in neutral and engage the emergency brake, then in the morning start it, get out and while finishing getting ready for work leave it running in order to warm up. I was with her one day when she parked in a space in a parking lot. There was only a slight grade, but she suddenly hit the brakes, explaining she was having trouble recently getting it to not roll when she parked it on a hill. I told her again what I had been for so long. She now, every time she parks it, leaves it in first gear.

Edit: parking brake cables can snap when no one is around, leaving your car without any and then possibly rolling on even a very slight incline, and sometimes your car can be bumped by a careless driver. If your car hits another after being bumped and you did not have it in gear, you could very well be liable for any damage your car subsequently did.

  7. Whatever you want to leave it in, its more preference.

On hills I leave it parked in gear but on flat surfaces I just leave it neutral.

Edit: lol, I don't know why the thumbs down but on a flat surface level it doesn't matter, it's not gonna roll away. As long as you leave it in gear (by that I meant first OR reverse) on hills it should be fine.

  8. Put it in reverse or 1st.

In most locals, to otherwise can result in a ticket.

  9. I always put my gearbox in reverse when parked. Reverse is the lowest gear and will prevent the car from rolling if the parking brake fails.

  10. gear, duh!!!!!!!!!

it could roll away or i guess someone could push it if they wanted
