  1. You'll be tested for your ability to operate a vehicle while adhering to the rules of the road.  Whether you use an automatic or manual car is your choice, and has no bearing on the licensing process.

Learn to drive a manual.  You may never need that skill since automatics are becoming so much better, but it's nothing to drive an auto after learning stick; going the other way may leave you walking.

  2. Ok some countries do a seperate class for bumper cars (whoops i mean autos) so if you do a test in an auto you cannot drive a manual unsupervised by a manual licenced person. You do learn how cars respond to your inputs better in a manual , if you get an auto licence you then need to do another test to drive a manual..

  3. where are you at?

in the US there is no such thing as a manual or automatic license.  I have driven both with the same license... there's nothing on it that says anything about automatic or manual.. there were no questions on the forms to fill out.  so yeah, if you're in the states, it doesn't matter.

Its not a bad idea to lear manual though.  that way if there's an emergency and its either you drive a manual or someone dies (a bit extreame, but you get my point)  then the person will live.

    good luck.

  4. I'm guessing your are in Australia if your asking about a manual or automatic licence get a manual licence it is always handy to have if only for an emergency.

  5. I like how everyone insists there is no such thing.  In some countries, there is.

I suggest you get the manual license if you are capable.  You never know when you might need it.

  6. there is no such thing as a manual or automatic licence

  7. there is such thing as a manual licence, if you have your test in a automatic car you can only drive an auto for your first three years while on probationary licence, and i agree that you may as well learn manual you never know what may happen
