Manuel Marquez signs the final agreement with Top Rank
It has been confirmed that Juan Manuel Marquez is going to take the third title shot against the Filipino’s pride, Manny Pacquiao. The
Mexican national has now taken the step to finalise his deal with the recognised promotional company, Top Rank.
The promoter of Manny Pacquiao and chief of Top Rank, Bob Arum spoke to the press on Tuesday and revealed that Marquez agreed upon the financial terms made to him by Pacquiao's management company.
Confirmation has been made and $5 million prize money has been locked by Top Rank. As part of the contract, it has been written clearly that Marquez will be fighting the best pound-for-pound boxer
of the world at a catch-weight of 144 pounds.
The 38-year-old, Marquez is very excited to take this bout against the Saturday Super Star. He says it was the fight he had been waiting for and that he wanted to fight him as early as possible. However,
Golden Boy Promotions has all the rights reserved to reject or accept it, being the implementation authority.
Marquez’s contract with Golden Boy promoters has expired. He needs renewal to match the offer made by Top Rank.
Arum spoke to the press from his Las Vegas office, “Golden Boy needs to match the offer by next week.”

If Marquez is not able to get a chance to go against Pacquiao, then there is a promise of a fight between the World Boxing Council (WBC) Welterweight Champion, Victor Ortiz, and Marquez.
Ortiz, who has beaten Andre Berto to claim the 147-pound belt, would be very happy to take this bout. He can move down to 144 pounds
as he has been the favourite contender of 140 pounds before that in his career.
Schaefer has mentioned before that HBO and Golden Boy promoters are in relation with each other and are coming up with $5 million fight money for Marquez. Bob
Arum stated that if Pacquiao vs. Marquez's third meeting was finalised, it would be a much more competitive fight then Shane Mosley vs. Manny Pacquiao.
