The Bayern Munich goalkeeper has called for consistency in the remaining games of the season and insists that the team cannot afford to relax.
Bayern Munich have been in sensational form and have won convincingly against Hoffenheim, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Berlin-c7536 after their loss to Bayer Leverkusen earlier this month. The former German champions also qualified for the final of the DFB-Pokal with a win over Borussia Monchengladbach on Wednesday on penalties.
The Bavarians are now only five points behind reigning German champions Borussia Dortmund in second place with eight games still to be played until the end of the season. The remaining games also include possibly a league decider against Jurgen Klopp’s side on April 11.
Neuer claimed that the side is on a brilliant run at the moment and should maintain the consistency in the remaining games also. He stressed on the importance of winning games at this point of the campaign and admitted that any drop in points at this stage could end their hopes of securing the title this season.
The goalkeeper mentioned that his side is working very hard in training and the performances of late have been convincing. He added that if results keep coming, it would put further pressure on the Borussians and could force them to make mistakes.
“We are on a good run but we have to be careful not to let up. What is clear is that we must not relax. We have to keep working and not assume all this will just continue,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The former Schalke shot stopper added that the team started the season brilliantly but their form dipped after the mid-season break. He insisted that Bayern cannot afford to make the same mistakes again and warned the team against complacency.
“We saw it earlier in the season when we stumbled towards the end of the year maybe because we were blinded by some good results,” he concluded.
Bayern Munich will next take on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hannover-96-c39492 on Saturday, March 24, at the Allianz Arena before travelling to Olympique Marseille for their first-leg of the quarter-final clash in the UEFA Champions League.
