The 26-year old dismisses claims that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 have become defensive, and their football is not as attractive as it used to be.
The Germans went in to the tournament on the back of two losses and an unconvincing victory over a poor http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Israel-c2925 side. In those three friendlies they conceded a total of seven goals. In the 2012 European Championship they were placed
in a group consisting of some of the strongest teams in the tournament.
Germany were up against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Per-Mertesacker-c29680 and brought in
the young http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mats-Hummels-c24767 in his place.
The change had a positive impact on the defence and Die Nationalelf cruised to three straight victories in the group stage and cemented their place in the quarter-finals.
However, the DFB eleven has recently been criticised of losing its attacking spark and being too cautious. The Bayern Munich number one thinks otherwise, he believes his side are playing like they always do. He believes the old
saying that attack wins you games and defences win you championship has little truth in it.
Considering Bayern Munich’s record in Bundesliga, where they conceded the least amount of goals, they should have been champions.
“We are not more defensive. The old saying that attack wins you games and defences wins championships is not true, otherwise Bayern would have been champions last season since we conceded the least amount of goals,”
he is quoted as saying in an interview.
In response to criticism from a former Schalke player http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Frank-Rost-c14103, Neuer reckons people are entitled to their opinions but the criticism does not help, although he admits the Nationalelf have to improve.
"Some become experts, but we don't need any expert opinions to tell us if we're good or bad. We know ourselves how we perform. [What's] important is that we won three times. We also know that we can improve," he added.
The Germans will certainly have to up their attacking game against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Greece-c2908, as they will need their attacking prowess to breakdown the plucky Ethniki defence.
