Schalke goalkeeper, Manuel Neuer, has insisted that he has not betrayed his boyhood club by not signing a new contract. The German’s contract will expire in the summer of 2012 and he has refused to sign a new deal, expressing his desire to leave.

His refusal to sign a new contract with the club has left many fans disappointed and the player has been subject of criticism recently. But Neuer stated that he is not a traitor and has always given his all whenever he has played for Die Knappen.
The shot-stopper revealed that he has not broken any promises and is leaving only because of professional reasons. He insisted that he loves Schalke and will always respect the club for all it has given him.

The German International admitted that there are a few people who have labelled him as a ‘traitor’ but all the others have respected his decision to leave.
“I know there are some that have now chosen to label me as a Judas, others accept my decision and respect it at least,” he concluded.
