Manuel Neuer to leave Schalke 04 for Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich
Following Manuel Neuer’s statement about his future at Schalke, rumours have started flowing that the German shot-stopper will leave the club for defending Bundesliga champions, Bayern Munich, at the end of the 2010/11 campaign. According to the latest reports,
a Bayern Munich representative has revealed that the German International goalkeeper will join Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window.
While talking to a local Munich newspaper, the unnamed Bayern Munich official said, “It is very clear that Manuel Neuer will play for Bayern.” The report also claims that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manuel-Neuer-c23424 has already informed the Schalke board of directors, Clemens Tonnies,
Horst Heldt and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ralf-c30492 Rangnick, that he intends to leave Gelsenkirchen for Allianz Arena.
Since December 2010, Bayern Munich have been in contact with Manuel Neuer and it has also been revealed that Bayern Munich made a bid for the shot-stopper in the January transfer window. However, former Schalke boss Felix Magath rejected the Bavarian advances.
With Magath now in charge of fellow Bundesliga outfit, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfL-Wolfsburg-c40881, Schalke management might decide to cash-in on the world class custodian. The German International is on a contract with the club that lasts until the summer of 2012.
Schalke’s financial situation might be another reason behind the club’s decision to sell Neuer. Reports suggest that a bid in the region of 25 million Euros might be enough to acquire the goalkeeper. Sources indicate that personal terms between Bayern Munich
and Manuel Neuer have been agreed upon, however, the transfer fee might be the only barrier and even a stumbling block in the deal.
Bayern Munich are likely to face stiff competition from Barclays Premier League giants, Manchester United, as the Red Devils might table an offer for the shot-stopper. Sir Alex Ferguson’s team will be without the services of legendary Edwin Van der Saar
as the Dutchman has decided to draw curtains on an illustrious career at the end of 2010/11 season.
