Manuel Pellegrini speaks of the injustice done to him at Bernabeu
It is no secret that there were reservations and issues between the President of Real Madrid, Florentino Perez, and the sacked coach of Real Madrid Manuel Pellegrini. The latest news from Pellegrini is that he has said his performance at Real Madrid was tarnished by the poor responses he got from Perez.
He also stated that it was the strange signings and advises by Perez that had led to the club’s unsuccessful campaigns. He expressed that if Perez had changed his policies, especially for “the need to sign in players and the irrelevant transfers” things would have been quite different.
Pellegrini was dismissed from the most prestigious managing position in the football world this summer when he managed to attain nothing. The drought at Bernabeu continued and Pellegrini was not there to help much. Perez had handed him a massive amount of 250 million Euros all that he could spend on to buy the players of his desire but despite that he was unable to manage the La Liga title and got embarrassed at Champions League with an early exit.
The Chilean coach has now been replaced by the Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho who led the underdog team of Inter Milan to a treble of victories. Inter Milan finished the season in style when they won the Champions League. Pellegrini however states that though he had a world class squad, his team was nevertheless deranged.
While talking to media the former coach of Villareal expressed, “They sign the best players, but not the best players needed in a certain position. It's no good having an orchestra with the 10 best guitarists if I don't have a pianist - Real Madrid have the best guitarists, but if I ask them to play the piano they won't be able to do it so well.”
The world class strikers Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka were bought from Manchester United and Chelsea but the star midfielders from Netherlands Wesley Sneijder and Arjen Robben were sold with arrival of the 63 year old Perez.
The two Dutch midfielders were bought by Inter Milan and Bayern Munich with whom the duo became a legend. They both led their clubs to the final of the Champions League when the two faced each other in the final this season.
Pellegrini emphatically stated that the two players should have been kept at the club. He told that he knew their full potential and knew that if they were harvested correctly then they would have had a humongous advantage.
Pellegrini stated, “He (Perez) sold players that I considered important. We had a difference of opinion with regards to the building of the squad”. He added, “We didn't win the Champions League because we didn't have a squad properly structured to be able to win it - that was my main discrepancy with Florentino Perez”.
Though Pellegrini is discredited of not being able to have led the club to a title or a cup but statistics show that the Chilean manager had proved a pint to his Spanish president. Pellegrini had indeed led the men of Bernabeu to a record season in which they made their best score without reaching to the glory of La Liga victory. They made Barcelona fight till the last match and only then was their victory sealed against them.
The former manager of Real Madrid told that had the Primera Division title been acquired he would have still been canned as Perez is unjustifiably incoherent about the proceedings of the club. Pellegrini had earlier stated when he was the in charge of men at Bernabeu that the Spaniard was extremely pompous in character and refused to meet him when he asked.
Pellegrini exclaimed, “Even if I had won the league I would have been out. I didn't have a voice or a vote”.
