Manulife Financial LPGA Classic 2012: Brittany Lang looks to continue her winning form
American Brittany Lang, who won the Manulife Financial LPGA Classic 2012 last week, is gearing up to participate in the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship 2012, set to be played from June 29 to July 1, at Pinnacle
Country Club in Rogers.
Lang has grabbed much of the attention due to her stunning performance against some of the big LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) stars recently.
However, analysts have said that winning the tournament at Pinnacle Country Club will be an uphill task for Lang, as the field is featuring fearsome contenders like the defending champion Yani Tseng and American
Stacy Lewis.
Other key players in the roster include Suzann Pettersen, Anna Nordqvist, Laura Davies and Cristie Kerr.
Tournament officials said that most of the top-ranked LPGA stars have confirmed their participation for the event, as they are also preparing for the US Women’s Open, scheduled to be played from July 5-8, at
Kohler.
The Director of the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship, David Shoemaker, said that players are extremely excited to play this week’s match due to the second major tournament of the season taking place from July
5.
Shoemaker said that he is happy to see big names in the roster, as it will help the officials bring more spectators this year.
Speaking to the media about her stellar performance in the last event, the American star said that she has gained plenty of confidence after winning her first LPGA title, and will try to keep the momentum going
in the upcoming events.
She went on to say that it seemed a little too hard to carve out a victory at the Manulife Financial LPGA Classic 2012, as the match went into playoff.
“I honestly thought I would never win,” Lang said of the victory. “After I had been out here five, six years and everybody around me kept telling me – my agents, my family, my friends, you know and you’re good
enough to win, you’re good enough to win. I was so tired of hearing it. I was like, I don’t think it’s ever going to happen and I don’t want to talk about it”.
The young prodigy said that she is an avid golfer, and this is what matter the most to her.
