Manulife Financial LPGA Classic 2012: Brittany Lang ties for second spot at the end of the second round
American Brittany Lang grabbed the second spot at the end of the second round of Manulife Financial LPGA Classic 2012, as she shot an explosive 65.
Lang got off to a cautious start at the inaugural Manulife Financial LPGA Classic, as she posted a 69 on the opening day. Her performance was amazing right from the start, and she kept the pressure high on
her nearest rivals.
Standing tied for the 21st position at the end of the first round, Lang ramped up pressure on other contenders from the start of the second round. She displayed a stunning performance and avoided
making lousy putts.
The opening day saw most of the player score well, but due to a threat of lightening and stormy weather, the tournament officials suspended the first round. Players, who were not able to start the game due
to suspension of the first-day match, were allowed to play their rounds later.
Analysts said that Lang was not regarded as the hot favourite for the title, yet she stunned her rivals by playing so well. They said that the American star will likely enter into the third round with a more
solid strategy.
Speaking to the media at the end of the round, Lang said that she is satisfied with what she did on the course, and will try to keep the momentum going in the third round.
The young star said that she might have got off to a shaky start, but bounced back in the second round, which is a huge development.
“It was really good. I got off to a good start. We teed off at 10:30, there wasn't much wind, so it was pretty easy and I got off to a really good start. That's the thing on this course, if you can make a
couple birdies early, you can definitely go low because it's not too terribly tough of a course,” the American golfer said.
She went on to say that she likes Waterloo, and was keen to point out that she finds the holes easier as compared to other courses. “It was a totally different golf course. We had soft greens, soft fairways
and no wind, so it was unbelievable”.
