Manulife Financial LPGA Classic to feature a strong field
LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) stars Paula Creamer, Michelle Wie and Lorie Kane will be participating in the Manulife Financial LPGA Classic, slated to start from June 20 to 24, at Grey Silo Golf Course in Waterloo.
The three players have been waiting to prove their worth in the prestigious event. However, analysts have said that the field will be featuring competent players.
American Paula Creamer can pose a threat to players, as she has long been seeking to end her victory drought. Creamer was performing amazingly well before suffering a nagging injury.
However, the 25-year-old prodigy has regained her lost form, thanks to rigorous training. She recently put her putting skills to the test at the first major tournament of the season — the Kraft Nabisco Championship 2012.
She came off well as she carded an overall 285 to finish tied for the 20th. The major championship featured a formidable field containing current world number one Yani Tseng and the defending champions Stacy Lewis.
Analysts said that Creamer appeared to have gained new vigour, as she played comfortable strokes on almost all the holes.
The American star opened the match with confidence and amazed the spectators by registering a 69 in the first round.
Having tumbled to the 10th position in the women’s world golf ranking, Creamer said that she is happy with her renewed form, as she had been looking to get back on track.
"I'm hitting it much further off the tee when I hit it good," she said. "I've definitely picked up yardage, which is something I was trying to do".
Lorie Kane, who belongs to Canada, is also gearing up to prove her mettle in the Manulife Financial LPGA Classic. Kane boasts a good profile, as she has racked up 4 LPGA titles so far.
The Canadian star participated in the Kraft Nabisco Championship, with the intention of proving her worth. She successfully made the cut and finished tied for the 79th.
Analysts said that the Manulife Classic will not be easy for Kane, as key LPGA stars are expected to show up at the Grey Silo Golf Course.
Another fearsome contender is Michelle Wie, who won the CN Canadian Women’s Open 2010 in an impressive style.
