Many golf fans duped, Ryder Cup now deals with fake tickets
The October 1st Ryder Cup is just 7 days away and many e-retailers are till date, selling tickets that are fake. Ryder Cup spokesperson on Wednesday warned all those fans that had bought invalid tickets that they will be barred from entering the
event no matter what happens.
The official sale of tickets came to an end on the first half of this month but it seems like certain websites still want to sell tickets in the black-market. Officials claimed that those who bought these tickets will probably be left empty handed since
the original ticket is of a unique nature which will have to pass through strict security measures.
Media reports claim that these fake tickets are being sold at a price three times their original value. The individual tickets for the Celtic Manor at Newport were being sold for £30 which was later reported to be sold at £150. For a match day ticket, the
price had a whopping demand of £300. Other than that, on the night of 22nd October, six day passes were accounted of being sold at as high as £1500 on a well-known auction website.
As far as the tickets nature is concerned, each ticket has a photographic ID along with the name of the person who purchased it at two designated public ballots. The Ryder Cup spokesperson further stated that park-ride sites contain strict security measures
concerning ticket holders. Strict security measures will be in place at both the Llanwern in the East and Tredegar House on the West.
It is pertinent to mention that original tickets are traceable and are unique for those who have bought it. The original tickets contain a ticket holder guide attached with it for the nominated holder. So those who are still buying tickets from websites
might as well stop the non-refundable outflow of their money since they won’t be allowed entry into the Ryder Cup event anyway.
A US seller is claiming that since the “PGA of America” is printed on the ticket, there is no need for any ID, whereas one website is selling these tickets from a video game maker for £165. However, PGA officials have stated that those who feel like they
have been duped should contact them immediately as new and creative ways of selling the Ryder Cup tickets are coming to light.
