Many people say teachers should be responsible for teaching students to judge what is right and wrong and behave well? Others say teachers should only teach students academic subjects. Discuss and give your opinion.

i do not think that a sense of right and wrong can be taught in the classroom. however, i believe that it is the responsibilty of all adults to help to develop it in children that they have contact with.

A teacher represents their own projections of what they think is right and wrong...so no matter if you don't explicitly teach values  you already are teaching them just by being you!

Personally I believe that the lessons I have learned make me responsible for my students if i don't guide them I may not be able to learn from my own experiences.

Sometimes learning is more than what is in the books.  What if a driver's ed teacher only taught what was in the book, does a student really learn to drive?  Would you want to be on the road with a kid who knows the rules but doesn't know how to follow them?  One kids misbehavior can cost you your life.  Now can you live knowing that if teachers only focused on academics and your sisters dead because a kid didn't know how to drive, can you live with that?  It doesn't matter if you have a sister or not, it's the fact she isn't here anymore.  Pass me and correct me as much as you want because a mistake that shouldn't have happened isn't worth living with.

I think teachers have always taught this. However, it seems less and less of our parents are also teaching core values and behaviors. The MTV generation has made words like PIMP and B**ch common place and rudeness is revered.

I view my classroom as a minature society. In order to get along we must Be Safe, Be Respectful, and Be Responsible. For some of my students these concepts ARE NOT being reinforced at home so it puts more emphasis on making what I teach them relevant to their world.

Horrible BA----- are horrible ---------SIMPLE as! No teacher in this world would succeed (THE Lord himself didn't)! Adolf Hitler and General Franco proved you can teach many to HATE but NOT ALL!
