Many study to get good marks and ranks, but how many study to learn?

When you love your education and study to learn, it becomes easy to study. Ranks & Marks would fall in place.

From earlier ages children should be taught to get interest in the subjects they study. They should like reading and studying.

Marks & ranks should not be given importance. Instead how much they have learnt is more important.

Many teachers look for exact answer. However children should explain the answer in their own way based on their understanding. This kind of teaching would help the children to understand.

How many have / had interest to learn? What are your tips for those who find education boring, or stressful.

very matured question.Now a days students are taught to mug up their books other than understanding them. Some times teaching helps a lot to remember & put it into pratice.

I think you bring up an excellent point. I have a problem with passing my exams, i can never pass, even though i study everything. Your point fits into my problem. Maybe it's because i care about passing and getting good marks than whether i actually learnt all the stuff needed in the exam.

Actually, throughout I study for wisdom and knowledge.  I never care for numbers or grades I got.  But this was not practical approach, which I admit now.  I should have maintained a balance.

if u want to get marks u have to learn. so indirectly those who want marks they have to learn.

a student will as the environment will teach her not only what she wants.

ya u are rite.................n im a student of that cost......i have studied inter for rank in aieee n now in the holidays aroung 4 months im studying[5th to inter standed books] for knowledge,wisdom n for my self satisfaction.......now im studyg for my sake n before i have studied for rank n seat n job n money sake..............i want 2 explain u one story.............in earlier days one student went 2 his teacher n said "sir we have been tought very well by u n we want u 2 judge us such that we will know the standard of our knowledge........"then the teacher agreed for that n he started judging their knowledge.........n the prosess repeated repeated n repeated................n wht happend nw is........look the difference

i always need some inspiration to do well.we dont have ranks...heck even getting gud marks is not an inspiration for me.in my previous school there was a cerificate and prize for the best student with a ceremony with the whole school watching me...now thats wat motivated me!!!best feeling evr....rite now its just like we students find out among ourselves who is the best but there is no ceremony,nothing and its not official....so now i'm just average=)...but its my last yr now...i'm motivated now...i think

well, as far as i am concerned, i know i study just for marks and rank.. nothing else...

in my class of 55 students, i know only one whi studies for learning.. real learning, i mean... and she studies a lot more than many of us...and she gets good marks, but still, others' marks are also better than her........  now, i just sometimes feel like she should have got more than me?

yes you are so right. But at present scenario student find it really hard to study just to gain knowledge ...obviously there is a lot of pressure to perform. For getting a seat in good institutions you need to have top scorers or clear the entrance with high marks (I am taking about the middle class who cant afford the huge fees cuz they are not that rich) So its really stressful. because every one cant be first and only the first gets the best...sad but its actually true in our dear country...And this is what is actually happening in our country. I actually know a lot of very bright students who couldn't make it in the there dream institute just becuz they couldn't make it to the top 200 or something. You need to be sharp, fast and the best to stay in this world..

Once you pass school age if you study you will study to learn.  You might even take courses for enjoyment.

Spot on! I want to admit something here, actually I've never been so bright of a "student" in my class because I made up the answers myself when I had to give a test about a read topic. Its not that I used to write non-sense..lol, I used to observe the topic & then recall the way I understood it. So sometimes it doesn't matched with the exact words written in the book but the way I learnt it. Still I wasn't that bad either :P
