  1. So you got the answer for the particular question, but here's how to do it.

The 1st # is the map units, the 2nd number is the real world units.

1:25,000 means whatever 1 is on the map, it will 25,000 of the same on the ground so 4x25000 = 100000 or 5x25000=125000.

For part B there are 100 centimeters in a meter and 1000 meters in a kilometer so a kilometer is 100x1000=100000 centimeters.

It's helpful to have an index of unit conversions - they're not all so simple, especially non-metric. You can usually find one in the back of a dictionary or in a day planner. Here's an online calculator that will do it for you: http://www.onlineconversion.com/length_c...

  2. i wish i could help, but you confused me too, id need to see the map that your using

  3. If the scale is 1:25,000 and the measurment is cm then use that ratio.

4 cm map scale equals 100,000 cm world scale.

  4. 1:n means 1 unit on the map is n units on the ground so 4 units on the map is 4n units on the ground.

    1:25000

    4 map units = 100000 ground units

    Distance on ground = 100000 cm = 1000 m = 1 km
