  1. Hi I'm doing gcse geography too. for the map work, we need to be able to describe physical features on a map, so that's relief - glaciated areas, escarpment etc, smaller scale physical features - u shaped valley, glaciated uplands, spurs, ridges etc. make sure you use accurate details like grid references, references to place names and altitude readings. you also need to be able to describe communications - road density so sparse or dense, different road patterns - linear circular, rectangular, nucleated, and different road types. make sure you say what their direction is across the map, their gradient and directness - straight or twisty. make surer you say what sort of communications it is too - rail, road, sea etc. We need to do land use, which is things like farming, forestry, orchards, theme parks and industry. again make sure you're specific when talking about features. lastly is settlement patterns. you need to say what the shape of the settlement is - linear, nucleated, and the position of the settlement - site and situation. make sure you know the difference between site and situation. Hope this helps!good luck in the exam :)
