Mapfre Aspar rider Hector Barbera back to his maiden podium venue – MotoGP news
Mapfre Aspar Team rider Hector Barbera is heading back to Netherlands for the Iveco TT Assen Grand Prix, where he scored his maiden podium.
With pleasant memories at the Dutch venue, he will fight to hop in the top ten positions on the final race day. Silverstone proved to be a chaos for the Mapfre Aspar team but Barbera is determined for better race finish.
Mapfre Aspar team rider, Hector Barbera said, “The good thing about having races so close together is that you don't lose your rhythm and if things don't go your way in one race you quickly have the opportunity to put things right. That is the case for us
because Sunday at Silverstone was a bit of a disaster.”
The Spaniard was victimised by a few things at last event at Silverstone. With a bad choice of race settings for his satellite Ducati and accompanied by wet-cold weather conditions, the British event was a disaster for Barbera. In fact factory and satellite
Ducatis suffered all the way through.
Barbera commented on his change of race settings eventually which were not useful as he said, “We tried a couple of things for the wet conditions but they didn't work out. Now we can keep working hard and I am sure that at Assen, one of my favourite circuits,
I can be fast with the Ducati. I had my first podium there and I always like it.”
The Spanish rider likes the fast corners at Assen and feels that he will avail that. In last event, the race settings were beneficial in dry conditions but the rain-interrupted race hampered the pace.
It was not only the satellite Ducati teams, Mapfre Aspar, Pramac Racing and Cardion AB Motoracing who suffered from rain, the Ducati factory team also struggled.
Ducati factory team rider Nicky Hayden was merely able to score a fourth place finish. Whilst his teammate Valentino Rossi struggled at the back and after crash of three top contenders, he came home sixth at Silverstone.
