Mapfre Aspar rider Hector Barbera suffered at Assen Grand Prix – MotoGP news
Mapfre Aspar team rider Hector Barbera was not able to push hard at Iveco TT Assen Grand Prix as he suffered from lack of grip.
Barbera said, “I didn't have any confidence in the tyres, right from the start. The slightest lean on the bike made me uncertain, because the bike was sliding all over the place. I wasn't able to get the tyres up to temperature and had a hard enough job
to keep the bike up under braking.”
The Spaniard came close to finishing in top ten slots but failed due to reasons as other team riders faced at Assen. About every team’s riders faced lack of grip on the tarmac especially the Repsol Honda and Tech3 team riders. However, he still managed to
complete the race with minimum grip.
From seven rounds, he has finished three times in the top ten slots, but this time he could not accomplish the goal. He was able to finish at the 12th place with only four points. At Assen, his team tried to retune the bike’s geometry to solve
issues faced at the Silverstone GP, but their attempts failed.
Barbera said, “We played around with the geometry a lot here and thought that the problems from Silverstone had been solved a little, but it seems as if that hasn't been the case. Having seen that we hadn't found a great setup here, our aim for the next
race is to reset things to zero.”
The Ducati satellite team will step back to work out the problems they are facing in development. They will try all what they have done during the winter test sessions held at Sepang, Malaysia.
The Spanish rider delivered his best to put the team in progressive direction. He was grateful to the team for what they did in order to prepare him for the race.
After all the efforts and results, he is determined to get a good result at Mugello, Italy and not repeat his performance at Assen.
