Question:

Maple Tree Question?

Not sure on the exact type of Maple Tree, as it was planted by the homeowners association two years ago. Last year was very dry, so the tree didn't grow well (small leaves that fell off early in the fall). This year, the tree didn't grow too much again, but the leaves were a bright green from spring through early summer. Now, at mid-summer, the leaves have all turned a red / burgandy color. Is this nomal for a certain type of Maple Tree? If so, what kind might it be? The leaves are not drying up, and the irrigation runs every night for 15 minutes, so there is no lack of water. Just trying to figure out what kind of tree it is. Thanks.

  1. I have a Japanese Maple and my neighbors have several normal ones. The leaves of their trees turn from green to red every year, they don't fall until they have been red for several months, so i would say that is normal. To help the tree grow better, water it with a trickle from the hose for several hours, that way it can absorb.

This site might help you, it isn't and wonderful site, but i found it helpful. http://www.mywebgarden.com/lawn_care/map...
