And Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa is confident that the visitors can cause an upset on Wednesday when they face the English giants. While talking to reporters, the Frenchman stated that Montpellier are going to London with an aim to get a positive result.
"Montpellier are not going to London for the tourism," the Frenchman told Sky Sports.
The 23-year-old, who has 3 international caps to his name, said that Arsenal are one of the best clubs in Europe and they are really strong at home. However, the centre-back believes that La Paillade can give the hosts a hard time on the pitch and they won’t
make it easy for the Gunners.
"We are the French champions, Arsenal is a big and difficult rival but we want to offer the best image we can in the Champions League.”
Yanga-Mbiwa added that its Montpellier’s debut Champions League campaign and they want to leave on a positive note by defeating Arsenal at their own backyard. The player added that it’s disappointing to be in the position where Montpellier are now, but feels
that they will learn from their mistakes and it will help La Paillade in the future.
"We are rookies in this competition and we have paid for that inexperience. I think that we have merited more points in the table but that happens in football.
The France international said that each and every player needs to be at his very best in order to get a positive result on Wednesday and has urged his teammates to play with confidence and without fear.
"Arsenal are very strong at the Emirates, but we want to beat Arsenal on Wednesday and if they want the three points they will need to sweat for them."
