The 23-year-old has cast doubts over his future with the Ligue 1 outfit after admitting that an offer from a top European club could lure him away from Stade de la Mosson
The Montpellier centre-back, who has one year left on his current contract, has been linked with a host of top European sides in recent times, with Italian giants AC Milan keen to acquire the services of the highly-rated defender.
The Serie A club are on the lookout for a centre-back following the sale of Thiago Silva to Paris Saint-Germain earlier this month. The bosses at the club have identified Yanga-Mbiwa as the player who can fill the gap left by the departure of the Brazilian.
Montpellier are reluctant to let their captain go at any cost. MHSC president Louis Nicollin, last week stated that Milan need to pay Montpellier the entire transfer fee that they received from the sale of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Thiago-Silva-c34903, if they want to sign Yanga-Mbiwa.
However, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa is unsure about his future with the Mosson club. While talking to reporters, the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 Under-21 international has reiterated his desire to play for a top European club.
The Frenchman is believed to be happy with Montpellier at the moment but a lucrative offer from a top European club would surely test Montpellier’s resolve to hold onto the player.
"I am staying with Montpellier, but you never know. There are some offers that you cannot refuse," Yanga-Mbiwa told reporters.
"For example, if a club comes in with a project that suits me and offers 7-8 million euros, what can you say to a figure like that?”
However, the club captain has stated that he won’t force a move away from the champions as the club has always been good to him and helped him in difficult situation.
"The club has always been good with me. I conduct myself well and there are no problems."
Yanga-Mbiwa was an integral part of Rene Girard’s side last season in which Montpellier win their maiden Ligue 1 title.
La Paillade will begin their title defence on August 10 when they face http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Toulouse-FC-c40751 at Parc des Princes in their opening fixture of the 2012/2013 Ligue 1 campaign.
