I tried to map out the drive from my laptop. it ask for user name and password but I am not sure what username & password to type in. Any suggestions

  1. If your laptop is using Vista, there is a feature in the Networking section that requires username/password to connect to a shared resource.  First, make sure the resource you are mapped to is shared, otherwise you will always get a prompt for username/password.  Once it is shared to All Users or Everyone, poke around in the Vista Networking Center to disable the prompt for username/password for shared files and folders.

I don't use my Vista machine much so I can't remember the details of that particular Networking Center feature off the top of my head

  2. I'm guessing you are using a vista computer

in order to get access you use the same username and password that you would normally use when you log onto the laptop, pretty cool security feature eh? Took me a while to figure out too.
