Sporting Lisbon’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marat-Izmailov-c23466 has been sidelined with yet another injury that he suffered against FC Porto; but it has nothing to do with his knee problem.
The Russian International has had a mixed career at Estadio Jose Alvalade so far. While he was an integral part of the side during his initial years at the helm, since last season a recurring knee injury has kept him away from most of the matches.
His superb form in the beginning of the 2011/2012 campaign made everyone believe that he was back to his best, but the player eventually succumbed to his injury and was sidelined for quite a few months.
Izmailov had to undergo a surgery in order to completely heal the damage but luckily for him, everything went smoothly and he had been recuperating for the last couple of months.
His efforts eventually paid off and he was available for selection in the fierce clash against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186. Although Domingos Paciencia did not name him in his starting line-up, he was on the bench for the home game.
The former Lokomotiv man was sent on for a late surge and was also guilty of scoffing his shot, which could have given his side the lead and an eventual win. However after the match, the medical staff evaluated his condition and revealed that he had again injured himself.
As the player had recently returned from a lengthy absence, many feared the worse and thought that his knee had given away again. But according to reports, the current problem is not related to his previous injury and he should able to make his comeback once again in a couple of weeks.
However, Izmailov still has to go undergo further tests and will then start his recovery accordingly. But given the amount of talent Domingos Paciencia has at his disposal, it remains to be seen whether the 29-year-old will be able to find space for himself in the starting eleven.
The likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Elias-c12267 have been superb for the Lions this term and have strengthened their position in attack, providing fierce competition for the Russian.
