Who is going to win this? Does Safin have it in him to make one last run, and beat federer like he did back in 2005? Predictions?

  1. I would love to see Safin win. He showed a lot today by calming himself during that rain delay, and he turned the match around. I think it should be a competitive match, and it would be wonderful to see Safin in his first Wimbledon final at this point in his career.

  2. Despie Safin being successful and beating Federer in 05, I dont see him doing the same thing, on grass no less. Perhaps on a hard court but not at Wimbledon. Then again one never can tell. Roger will eventually lose at some moment in time on grass, and Safin is on a tremendous run/comeback.  Will be a great match nonetheless.

  3. i really believe that Safin could upset Federer. i think Safin is capable of beating pretty much anyone when everything comes together well for him. i think he'll do it.

  4. fed is going to win :)

  5. SAFIN!!!!!!!!!!!!! Safin in 4 or 5

  6. I LOVE seeing Safin play the way he has been playing this year at Wimbledon... but, I don't quite think he has what it takes to beat the Master... Federer's serve is ridiculous, and his effortless play is unstoppable on grass. I think Fed will take the championship again this year.

  7. i like safin, but we'll probably get the same old players. in a way, this sport's so effing predictable.

  8. I would love to see that -))) BUT I don't think it will happen ! Safin ,so far played ,GREAT !I am cheering for Safin in my heart , but want to see Feder with a trophy -))))

  9. Safin is by far the most dangerous player on ATP, it depends on which Marat shows up against Federer.

if he can control his temper, he can beat anybody on the tour.

if Roger can frustrate him early, Roger will run away with it. if Marat keep his composure, he will have a shot.

i think will be Roger in 4 sets.

  10. It depends if Safin can keep his composure without pouting.

Safin is a very dangerous player who can beat ANY player on the tour at any given time if hes on top of his game.

If Safin loses his composure during the difficulties of this game, then Feddy will take it easily.

Oh and BTW.. Nadal in 4 in the final. Nadal's turn has finally come at  Wimbledon.. and we will never be able to say the same about Federer at the French.

  11. Marat is one of most talented players. I just hope he doesn't pull down his shorts after hitting a great shot, like he did a few years ago.

  12. Safin is my favorite player on the Tour, but I have to be realistic.  As much as I want Safin to win this match-up it's impossible to ignore the near perfect tennis that Federer has been playing so far.

Honestly, If Federer wins the first set, I can see Safin getting frustrated and giving up.  Federer, like always, will "step on the gas" and finish the match really quickly.

There's an intimidation factor when playing Federer.   If you notice the matches that he's played, you'll  find that his oppenents have given up by the final set.  I think Nadal is the only player that won't give up when he's backed into a hole by Federer, and that's why he won't lose.  Nadal is the only player left in the Tournament that isn't intimidated by Federer.  He's the only one with the confidence to think that he can (and should) beat Roger.

  13. Safin can do it- whether he will or not- I don't know! God I hope so- he is in great form and someone with his charisma should beat the robot- just because we would loooove it!

  14. Safin has a remarkable advantage in terms of physique, power, and height.  However, his consistency is going to be a big problem when matched up against Federer.  On top of that, Wimbledon means grass courts, and that gives Federer yet another advantage.

It'll be competitive, without a doubt, watching Novak's match against Safin proved to me that Safin has improved.  However, is he going to be able to keep up his consistency without sacrificing his hard-hitting?  And can he play under well under that kind of pressure?  In the mental game, he's beaten Roger once already; that makes it a lot easier for him than a lot of other players.

All in all, Roger Federer's still looking to be the favorable one, but that doesn't mean you should discount the Russian, he has a good shot.

  15. Federer all the way. His time may be waning, but Fed is still the top choice in my opinion. Safin just doesn't have as much experience at the top with pressure like Federer.

    =)
