Marathon runners get hot, which colour blanket should they wear, black or white??

its a science question in for tomorrow to do with infrared radiation. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!

I heard it doesn't actually matter which colour it is:

Although science tells us that white reflects all visible light and infared is very near visible, which means less is absorbed (not heated up by the sun as much), but that black transmits infared better (so its better at losing the heat it already has). Either these effects are negligible or they cancel each other out meaning it doesn't really matter.

The real question should be "Why would a hot marathon runner wear a blanket?"
