Talented Aston Villa starlet Marc Albrighton has hailed the impact of the Villans’ outgoing pair, Ashley Young and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Stewart-Downing-c34221, and has claimed that he is more than ready to fill the void left by the wingers.
Young joined Manchester United at the start of the summer after being heavily linked with the Red Devils for the past six months. Downing, meanwhile, completed his long-awaited move to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 a few weeks ago.
The Villans are now without their two talismanic wingers. However, Alex McLeish signed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Charles-c8808 N’Zogbia from Wigan Athletic as a cover for the outgoing wingers.
Albrighton was a revelation at the Villa Park last season despite making sporadic appearances for the Lions. The English winger is now being tipped to fill the void left by the outgoing pair. The Villans’ youth academy product is confident to establish himself
in McLeish’s starting eleven.
The 21-year-old believes that it is an outstanding attribute for a player to be able to play on the both flanks and has reckoned that a wide player should be adaptable to playing on both wings. The Under-21 English international hailed the legacy of Ashley
Young and Stewart Downing, who were very crucial to the Villans finishing in the top half of the table last season.
"I think if you can play on both wings it's another string to your bow. With Ash [Ashley Young] and Stewie [Stewart Downing] last year I think they showed how to do it brilliantly," he continued.
Young and Downing could play on either wing, as per the requirement of their manager.
"They were regularly switching wings and they had a lot more shots from it because they were cutting in on their stronger foot from their weaker side and getting shots off. I think it does help. You can stay on your best wing when you need to, but you've
always got that option if you can do it," Albrighton concluded.
