Marc-Edouard Vlasic again signs a contract with San Jose Sharks for 5 years
San Jose Sharks have signed a new contract with Marc-Edouard Vlasic, earning his services for 5 more years. The Canadian defenseman already had one year left on his previous four-year contract, which was from 2009-2013, but San Jose, to be on the safe side,
did not wait for one more year and did the job at the right time.
An official announcement was not made nor any type of terms and conditions were disclosed by the player or San Jose’s officials but media believes that this five-year deal is worth $21 million which makes an average of $4.2 million every year as it was reported
by CapGeek.com.
Marc-Edouard Vlasic has been one of the most regular members of the San Jose Sharks in the last 5-6 years playing almost 80 games in all the seasons. His performance has also been very impressive in the mean time. Another thing that makes him so wanted and
valuable is his age, that is just 25.
He surely has a lot to offer and got enough to serve the San Jose Sharks for a long time period.
When asked about this new deal with Vlasic, General Manager of San Jose Sharks, Doug Wilson said, “It comes down to the player wanting to be here, understanding our commitment to winning and having to help us out a little bit to have a contract that's fair
for him and for our team-building. He gave us a value deal in a place where he wanted to be, and that is how it should work.”
The defender also looked happy with this deal as he would stay where he was for the last four years that too with a better salary now. He was being given $3.1 million before and new salary of $4.2 million for a year, which means an icrement of $1.1 million
that is almost 35% increase.
Vlasic said about the deal, "To me, I like to have something that's known, secure, already set," Vlasic said. "To me, unrestricted means you're not sure what's going to happen. I'm very happy I'm with the Sharks for the next six years."
