Marc Farry expects a strong challenge at the season-ending MCB Tour Championship
Marc Farry of France is expecting a strong challenge at this year’s European Seniors Tour’s season-ending MCB Tour Championship, to be held at the Constance Belle Mare Plage’s Legend Course.
Farry has been visiting the site of the tournament for almost a decade and is regarded as the key person behind the tournament’s addition to the Seniors Tour three years ago.
The Frenchman has dedicated a decent portion of his life promoting Mauritius as one of the best golf destinations in the world.
Last year, he was named as the official Ambassador for Mauritius for his commitment and dedication to the development of the sport in the region.
“The pros love it there – they love playing there and bringing their wife for a holiday before or afterwards,” the two-time European Seniors Tour winner said.
He added, “It’s a fantastic venue and I’m very pleased that it became the Tour Championship, as it means it’s now a much stronger event with a limited field and some big names coming from America”.
Farry believes that his good form in the recent months will help him contend strongly in the event this year. He finished tied for the second position at the Pon Senior Open last month.
“It is an absolute pleasure being involved with the whole thing because it’s a fabulous place and a great event,” he added. “I try to get the best players to play there, and I’m also involved in the course set-up for the tournament”.
Tom Lehman, who outshined his rivals in last year’s edition, has also committed to defend his title this year.
Lehman is among the strongest additions to the event this year because of his super form on the Champions Tour.
He currently ranks second in the Charles Schwab Cup standings, trailing the leader Bernhard Langer by just 111 points. Therefore, one can really expect him to take the title home for the second time in a row.
David Frost, who gave Lehman a strong competition in the final round, last year, will also be in the field, when the event kicks off on Friday, December 7, 2012.
