Marc Gasol’s performances in the Conference Semi-Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder (Part-2)
Game-3
After playing the first two games on the road, the Memphis Grizzlies hosted the Oklahoma City Thunder for the game 3 of the Western Conference semi-finals with the series tied at 1-1. Playing in his own back yard, the big man erupted
with 16 points, 7 boards and 2 assists to propel the Grizzlies to a thrilling 101-93 overtime victory.
Although Gasol struggled to dominate from the field and connected only 4 out of 14 field goal attempts, however he was quite impressive from the charity strip and landed 8 free throws, most by any player in the game. He was the
key in initiating a vociferous fight back in the fourth quarter by the Grizzlies, who overcame a 13 point deficit and brought the game to an 86 point deadlock at the end of regulation time. The Grizzlies took over the game in extra time and it was Marc’s free
throws that finished off the game.
Game-4
The 26-year-old centre posted yet another outstanding performance in a triple overtime thriller. However, Gasol and his team lost steam down the stretch and Oklahoma City clobbered them to seal the win. Gasol racked up 26 points
on an 11-of-20 shooting and also grabbed 21 rebounds in 57 minutes of playing time on the night.
Gasol was in his zone right from the first quarter and smashed the Thunder with 12 points, propelling Grizzlies to a massive 28-16 advantage. The Thunder made a strong comeback in the next three quarters as the game went in a tie
96-96 at the end of the fourth.
Game-5
After a strenuous triple-overtime meeting, the Memphis Grizzlies seemed weary in the game 5 as the whole line-up failed to put up a decent performance. Marc Gasol was an exception though. The prolific centre was the only player
to land double figures for the visiting Grizzlies and ended the night with 15 points and 5 rebounds. However, due to lack of support, Marc couldn’t create too many opportunities as the Thunder took a 3-2 lead in the series.
