Marc Gene says Toro Rosso’s Jaime Alguersuari ready to jump to a better team – Formula 1 news
Former Toro Rosso driver Marc Gene has said that Jaime Alguersuari is looking forward to jump to a better team, as he wants to make his bright future in Formula 1.
He also mentioned that he is working really hard in the 2011 Formula 1 season and is improving race after race.
He further added that Jaime is ready to show his better performance in the ongoing season, after taking a positive step towards his success in the recently held Canadian Grand Prix.
Gene discussed Jaime’s race performance and said, “I know that this year he is struggling to adapt to the new tyres and the high degradation. Jaime is aware of it and is working very hard with the team to improve it. Personally I have no doubt that he is
ready to make the jump to a better team.”
On the other hand, the former Toro Rosso boss Eddie Jordan added about the 21-year-old driver, “He has talent but is he fast enough? In my opinion it is unlikely he would ever be considered a replacement for Vettel. So they (Toro Rosso) might have to say
'Let's try to bring on the next one'. Sympathy doesn't matter, you have to deliver.”
The Spaniard took a good start in the Montreal race weekend recently, where he successfully finished his Friday Practice sessions and qualifying rounds among the strong contenders of Formula 1. On the race day, he seemed to be struggling to get close to
the top runners due to the safety cars. Because of that, he could only finish in eighth place for the team in the end.
After the race, the team driver admitted that it was a perfect race for him in the season so far. He added that he had a trouble free weekend in Montreal and that he enjoyed the moment of the race when he was pushing to score some points for the team.
After scoring some points in the Canadian Grand Prix, Toro Rosso are expecting further improvements in the performance of their drivers at the upcoming Valencia Grand Prix, scheduled to take place on June 26, 2011 in Europe.
