Stephen Ettinger of Team BMC and Keegan Swenson of Team Cannondale Factory Racing succeeded during the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup 2012.
Keegan Swenson occupied the podium spot during the Junior Men Cross Country category, with his third place finish at the race.
Romain Single of Team Definitive Spectra. Tec ASPTT claimed the top spot after a competitive overall time of 1 hour, 5 minutes and 7 seconds.
Andri Frischknecht of Scott - Swisspower MTB Racing Team finished 40 seconds behind at the second position, while Keegan of Team America finished further 5 seconds behind at the third spot.
Titouan Carod, Victor Koretzky, Kevin Panhuyzen and Enea Vetsch occupied the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh positions.
Stephen Ettinger is the second American who occupied the podium after his marvellous efforts during the Elite Men’s event.
Marc Gullickson is the USA Cycling Cyclo-cross and Mountain Bike Director and he was over the moon after the terrific display by his young guns.
He noted, "It was a cold overcast day and the race was run over a course that had many sharp climbs and technical drops with a very circuitous lap that felt like a long cyclo-cross course".
"Very large fields representing the strongest riders across Europe and the world were on hand for this classic Belgian World Cup," he concluded.
Ettinger who is riding the second World Cup as Elite, was delighted after his performance and appreciated his team’s support throughout the race.
He noted that the victory has boosted his confidence for the coming races of the year and will help him for the 2012 London Olympics.
Stephen noted, "I knew I could be up at the front of this race. I knew I had that race in me but to have it all come together was great. It makes the Olympic bid come that much closer".
Another young American, Sam Schultz of Team Subaru-Trek finished at the 37th position.
Todd Wells (Team Specialized), Jeremiah Bishop (Team Cannondale Factory Racing) and Jeremy Horgan-Kobelski of Team Subaru-Trek achieved the 45th, 61st and 83rd positions in the respective order.
