Marc Leishman finishes strongly at the PGA Championship presented by Coca-Cola
Daniel Popovic registered his name in the history books after winning the Australian PGA Championship presented by Coca-Cola.  Marc Leishman, in the meantime, held his head high, after finishing the week on a high note.
The Virginia Beach resident fired a five-under par 67, in the final round of the event, to finish among the top-10 players on the leaderboard.
The Australian PGA Championship was sanctioned by the PGA Tour of Australasia, and was being played at the Coolum Resort and Spa.
The eight-time professional winner suffered an early wobble this morning, bogeying the first hole. He then made a strong comeback by recording birdies on the second, third, fifth and the ninth hole, to reach the turn in three under.
The back nine of the course also witnessed him maintain consistency in his game, which allowed him to add another two shots to his scorecard.
At the end of the day, he found himself settled for a five-under par 67, the best score by any player on Sunday.
After completing his final-round campaign, he seemed really pleased with his performance. He finished tied for the eighth place on the leaderboard.
The 2011 Open champion and the 14-time European Tour winner Darren Clarke also participated in the event.
He carded a four under par 68, in the final round, to accumulate a nine-under par overall score, which allowed him to finish tied for the eighth position.
He made a stunning start to his final-round campaign, as he birdied three of the first five holes that he played. In addition to that, he also recorded a scintillating eagle putt on the third hole.
Thereafter, he failed to maintain consistency in his game and conceded a bogey on the ninth hole to reach the turn in four under. The back nine of the course witnessed him record pars on each of the nine holes that he played.
Talking to the reporters after completing his round, he expressed his disappointment in finishing poorly in the tournament.
According to him, he could have posted a better finish, if he could have managed to add a couple of more birdies to his scorecard.
